Vegetables
Its now warm enough to plant pumpkin, cucumber, courgetti, watermelon, capsicum, chilies and tomatoes. Compost and sheep pallets should be used to boost soil texture and nutrients.
Herbs – Basil, dill and coriander are short lived herbs which grows well now. Parsley, thyme, chives and rosemary are longer living and benefit from regular picking. Borage is great to plant as it encourages bees and flowers, it also makes for a great edible decoration.
Lawn Care
Spray with Turfix to eliminate broadleaf weeds and prickle weed killer for Onehunga.
Small Fruit
Strawberries, raspberries, blackberries and passionfruit would benefit from a feeding of sheep pallets now.
Indoor Plants
Spring is an important time for indoor plants as it’s the start of their growing season. Check to see if they need repotting. Increase pot size by a small amount at a time and continue to feed regularly.
